Next Wednesday, SLG headquarters will be one of the meeting places for
the undead as the prepare to make their shamble through San Jose's SoFA
district on Wednesday, August 26! In addtion to the zombie walk, SLG
prez Dan Vado has also organized a food drive with Second Harvest
because, as he says, when facing tough times (such as an economic
downturn or a zombie apocalypse), the best thing you can do is help
each other out.
Find out all about it at the Zombie-o-Rama website and the San Jose Mercury's write-up. In brief:
Meet-up before the crawl at SLG's Boutiki.
We'll have make-up artists on hand to transform you into the walking
dead -- simple make-up will be free but there will be a charge for more
elaborate feats of decomposition (discuss price with the make-up
artists). We'll also have a caricature artist on hand so you can
immortalize the moment with your very own zombiefied portrait, and a
great zombie art show set up in the gallery.
Zombies will rally
in Gore Park (seriously, that's the name of the park) at 6 p.m., where
Second Harvest will be collecting donations for the food drive. They
request meals in a can (stew, chili, and soup), peanut butter, 100%
fruit juices, canned fruits, canned vegetables, canned tuna/meat, and
low sugar cereal.
Along Market Street are zombie-friendly
business offering specials to the undead. After the shamble, Starlight
Cinema will be playing Shaun of the Dead in Gore Park.
It's all shaping up to be a fun evening! |
