Warren Ellis, writer of (among other things) Transmetropolitan, Planetary and a host of other comics had this to say about Ubu Bubu in his Bad Signal email newsletter.
I quote in it's entirety with Mr. Ellis' kind permission.
"Listen, if you go to the comics shop tomorrow and you
see a comic called UBU BUBU, by a guy called Jamie
Smart, published by SLG (whose website seems to be
down right now) -- FUCKING BUY IT.
"Um, mister cat? I have to go pee!"
"Nonsense, you can just go in the juice (jug) like I
did. Unless you think you're better than me? Is
that it? Fuckface? You're better than me?"
It's sort of like Marc Hempel's GREGORY, at the
start -- but you realise, a couple of pages in, that
Jamie Smart is British. Also, that Smart is several
miles crazier than Hempel. Also, that not everyone
can write a line like "Slap Rommel in the tits!"
Seriously. I actually hurt myself laughing at this.
Find copies immediately."
Looks like our web host change has not propagated everywhere yet based
on Ellis' comment about our site being down. Regardless, if you're
reading this you can order Ubu Bubu #1 here as well as a TON of other
Jamie Smart stuff.
Thanks to Warren Ellis for the kind words.
Issue #2 of Ubu Bubu will be added to our store as soon as it arrives,
however #1 is currently available as well as his one-shot comic Bohda
Te. Click images for more information.
